‘I will direct one more in India’

With maiden film ‘Beyond the Cloud’ in India, Iran mega director Majid Majidi says he plans to make a new film set in the South Asian country.

After the project ‘Beyond the Clouds’, Iranian filmmaker Majid Majidi will be back in India soon to start his second film set in the country titled ‘Gold Mine,’ a media report said on Sunday.

The Oscar-nominated director said in a statement, "The ambience of India" and "wonderful relationship between humans and nature" inspired him to shoot his next film in India. The project will go on floors next year.”

"The ambience of India is magical and incomparable... there exists a wonderful relationship between humans and nature. The undying spirit of people and their hope for life, in spite of all hardships, is unbelievable," Majidi added.

A source was quoted by media as saying about the director’s new film that it “is based on a subject that came to Majidi during his frequent visits to north India. He has been developing the idea and recently visited the location where his story is based.”

Majidi's ‘Beyond the Clouds’ will premiere at the 61st BFI London Film Festival to be held 4-15 October. The flick is an official selection in the competition category.

In 1999, The director's ‘Children of Heaven’ (1997) was the first Iranian film nominated to receive an Academy Award.
